Persistence Pays Off
When I was searching through the depths of available internships on Handshake, one caught my eye – not once, but twice. I applied to be an intern at Nativa in both February and March of this year, and fortunately, I got the chance to interview for the position in April. Joining the Nativa team was one of the best decisions I have made in my professional career.
My Professional Development Journey
Under the guidance of Eric Diaz, I learned the ins and outs of working for an advertising agency. Throughout my time at Nativa, I got the opportunity to work hands-on with multiple client campaigns, as well as conduct instrumental market research. As a graduate with dual degrees in Digital Marketing and Business Entrepreneurship, I have always been curious as to how advertising agencies work to address client needs. I finally got the chance to satisfy that curiosity at Nativa due to being able to work directly on client projects.
I also got a good taste of how a smaller agency runs. The team at Nativa might be small, but the impact the agency leaves is large. Before starting at Nativa, I had experience working in a larger team on marketing campaigns for Sony Music, but nevertheless, smaller teams function completely differently. I was able to use the skills I had developed in my previous roles to deliver beneficial change in my new one.
I learned to constantly be inquisitive, and to be flexible when working on projects. One moment I could be conducting market research for a client, and the next I could be helping put together a slideshow that will be presented directly to them! The broad scope of Nativa’s operations surprised me, and being able to individually have a part in all of them was amazing.
Final Thoughts
Working as an intern at Nativa has been an eye-opening experience. It taught me tons about digital marketing, and plenty that I never learned—even while pursuing a degree in it! Directly seeing my impact on how Nativa runs as a business has been incredible. I will definitely take the skills I learned here onwards to my next role as a Client Relationship Associate at Vanguard. I extend my sincere gratitude to Eric, and everybody else at Nativa.
