Karna Consulting LLC

Medical Document Transcreation

Overview

Karna LLC was tasked with helping the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) translate COVID-19 medical training and guideline documents from English to African French. This mission required translators and interpreters reflect the distinct word choices and dialects of the target community. Given the sensitive nature and tight timeline, turnarounds needed to be as quick as 8 hours.

Approach

Nativa leveraged its extensive network of diverse translators. From this pool, Nativa selected individuals from African countries who were fluent in French and medical field experience. Additionally, Nativa ensured these translators were also fluent in English and proficient with technology to facilitate virtual interpretation sessions.

Results

Nativa’s efforts resulted in the successful delivery of high-quality translations within the required turnaround times, enabling the CDC to disseminate the crucial Covid-19 medical training and guidelines effectively. The accurate and culturally appropriate translations helped bridge communication gaps, supporting the target communities in understanding and adhering to the guidelines.
