More Than Just Work at Nativa

Why Team Events Actually Matter

(Especially for a Small Team Like Nativa)

Work gets busy fast. Between deadlines, client work, emails, and everything in between, it is really easy to just stay in go mode all the time. But something we have learned at Nativa is that the best work does not come from just grinding all day. It comes from actually enjoying the people you work with. And when you are part of a smaller team like ours, that matters even more. Everyone works closely together, there is no hiding behind departments or layers, so the relationships you build really shape how the work feels day to day. That is honestly one of the things I have valued most as an intern at Nativa. Being part of a smaller team has made it so much easier to feel included, build real relationships, and actually learn from everyone around me.

Last Friday was a perfect reminder of that.

We went to a spring training baseball game as a team, and it was one of those days where you just get to relax and be around each other with no pressure. No meetings, no deliverables, just hanging out, talking, laughing, and enjoying the game. Honestly, those are the moments that stick. You get to know people in a different way, conversations feel more natural, and it just makes everything easier when you are back at work. It is not forced team building, it is real connection. Check out this video here sharing our experience.

That shows up within work

When you actually like the people you work with, collaboration feels effortless. Ideas flow better, communication is smoother, and you are way more comfortable speaking up or building off someone else’s idea. Especially in a creative, multicultural space like Nativa, that kind of environment is everything. Our work depends on understanding people, culture, and each other, and that does not come from sitting behind a screen all day. It comes from real relationships.

More Than Just a Team Outing

It might seem simple, but taking time for moments like this really changes how a workplace feels. It gives everyone a chance to step away from the day to day and just connect as people, not just coworkers. And that kind of connection makes a difference. You communicate better, you feel more comfortable sharing ideas, and you actually enjoy working together instead of just getting through the day.

At Nativa, this is something we have been intentional about. Whether it is team lunches, content days, casual hangouts, or moments like last Friday at the spring training game, there is always an effort to spend time together outside of just work. And those moments add up. They make the team feel closer, more supportive, and way more collaborative when we are back in the office.

For a smaller team like Nativa, it matters even more. Since we all work so closely, the energy of the team really depends on how connected everyone feels. When you have that trust and comfort, everything flows better. You collaborate easier, support each other more, and it creates an environment where people actually want to show up and do their best work.

At the end of the day, it is not just about going to a game or doing a team outing. It is about building real relationships that carry into the work and make the whole experience better for everyone.
